• Sorting a dropdownlist after postback

    I was asked the other day if I could sort a dropdownlist, after postback in the html markup of a page, using Javascript. This came from a colleague, I was sure I could do it so I fired up Expression Web and got stuck in, anyway this is how I solved this. The back story to this is that the dropdownlist could not be sorted serverside and the text used in the dropdownlist was a concatonation of serveral values as follows;

    start date - end date - area - name - telephone - section

  • Restoration

    I was having a good clean out of my laptop the other day and was deleting projects that I had been using for testing and trialing different software, It's just housekeeping really, my laptop goes everywhere with me and over the course of months, nevermind years, I can have a good many projects that are doing nothing just taking up space and clogging my projects and websites folders in VS2008 and VS2010, some with connected SQL 2008 databases and associated users.

  • Scotland

    I've been up to Scotland a couple of times this year, such a great place. Where I usually stop in the Bothy at Badrallach I have been staying at my brother's place, I'm no David Bailey as you will see in the images below but I just wanted to get these saved and backed up really, anyway click an image to scroll through this Scotland gallery.

    Hi and welcome to my blog and little corner of the interweb, I've needed to get a site up and running for quite a while now but just haven't had the time to sort one out, with a new year and a new start I thought I'd better get one up and running so here I am.
